Importance and Concept of Backlinks and OFF Page SEO

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a technique to rank blogs or websites in Search Engine Results Pages (SERP). Learn about the Importance and concept of backlinks and off page SEO. There are mainly two aspects of SEO, first On Page SEO and second Off Page SEO.

Basically, On PAGE SEO optimization techniques are those that we perform on our website or blog content, it’s code, Meta Titles, Descriptions, and other important tags.

Concept of Backlinks and OFF Page SEO:

While Off PAGE SEO is where we work on the promotion part. In Off PAGE SEO we create backlinks through several activities. These backlinks are basically of two types, first is No Follow links and second is Do Follow links.

In this piece of writing we will talk in detail about “Do Follow” and “No Follow” links:

What is Do FOLLOW and No FOLLOW LINK in OFF Page SEO?

Basically, Do follow link is which allows the search engine bots to follow the link and index it further. It gives the backlink and generates link juice from it. The No follow links are those which tell search engines to ignore the link and not to follow it. The main difference is a Do Follow link has a Do follow tag and the No follow link has a No follow tag.

As a user, we can’t tell a difference between the two and the users can follow both the links and go towards it. But, when we talk about search engines, there’s a huge difference in both as the Do follow links we create helps our website rank in search engines while on the other hand the NO Follow link doesn’t help us rank in the search engines.

Now, you will wonder, what is the impact of both Do follow and NO follow links?

Do follow backlink passes the authority (link juice) from the referring website to the linked website. Crawlers count these links and their anchor texts. Therefore, do follow backlinks directly influence your backlink profile because they send a signal to search engines to look at what’s the linked website about. On the other hand, the No follow links doesn’t pass the link juice but can help you with targeting traffic for your website.  So, it should be a balance of both Do Follow and No Follow links in your backlink strategy.

Is No Follow Links useful in some way?

Using NO Follow link attribute is useful to create when you don’t want the link juice to pass. But it will not boost your page rank and also it will not help you rank in the SERP Page. That doesn’t mean that NO Follow links are useless or so. They may restrict the search engines to through it, index it or it may not help you rank but they still can count on getting traffic for your website as it’s seen by the users only so the user can go on it and it generates traffic for your website and it helps you build and optimize your Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

If we talk about the concept of backlinks we should remember it in OFF Page SEO. Any backlink you create in a blog post is automatically a DO Follow Link. Unless the link is changed to No Follow in a site setting or are manually changed. The web crawlers follow the do follow links. In contrast, no follow links have a bit of code that tells search engines to not crawl them or count them as quality backlinks.
